Join the Chorus!

The Schoodic Summer Chorus is a multi-generational a capella community chorus devoted to nurturing musicianship and community, in residence at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor, Maine. Its members share a passion for singing beautiful and unusual music. Directed by singer and composer Anna Dembska, the chorus is open to anyone who loves to sing.

This summer, the Chorus will explore the meaning of “home” and the spirit of place with a cappella music ranging from Renaissance composer Heinrich Isaac to seminal new wave punk rockers, The Talking Heads, and traditions from the Balkans to Africa to American roots.

We'll be performing at Hammond Hall to open the Schoodic Arts Festival, as well as two additional concerts in Addison and Millbridge.

Cost

The Schoodic Summer Chorus is primarily supported by membership dues, but we want everyone who wants to sing to be able to join us. Membership fee is $120 (this level covers the cost of running the chorus). If you can't afford the regular dues, we have full and partial scholarships for those who need them.

If you can afford it, please consider paying more than $120 to help subsidize those who need to pay less.

Commitment

We ask that you miss no more than two rehearsals, and make sure you come to the final three rehearsals (July 14, 21 and 25). If you really want to sing with us, but have scheduling problems, please contact Anna Dembska.
